Description
The Powderbox Church is now a private residence in Jerome. In the early mining days in Jerome, the hispanic miners were not allowed to worship with the Anglo's, so they went to their bosses to ask if they could keep the "powder boxes" which were the wooden crates that the dynamite was shipped in, so that they could build their own church. This structure was built entirely of those wooden crates.
