The clouds had been building since the afternoon this last day of June, 2014. Monsoon season in Arizona typically begins in July, so I was hoping for a nice reflected light sunset. From our view in Jerome, the sun sets behind us perhaps 90 minutes before it actually sets because of our location on Cleopatra Hill. So a brilliant sunset was behind us and to the left side of us. The light typically streams across the face of the Secret Mountain Wilderness and red rocks of Sedona, including Sycamore canyon to the far left.
Ron began photographing the world around him in Wyoming at age 9. He then built his own darkroom in his closet by age 10. Ron moved from Wyoming to Phoenix in 1985. He spent two decades in the Custom Photo Lab business in Phoenix Arizona before tiring of all of the things that the big city brings. In 2005 he moved to Jerome Arizona. Jerome is on the National Historic Registry and has some of the most amazing views from their mile high vantage point. Many of the photographs on this website are the views from Jerome, including Sedona, the San Francisco Peaks and the Mogollon Rim.
